TO VISIT DOMINION
GENERAL FREYBERG N.Z. FORCES COMMANDER STAY OF SOME WEEKS (Per Pross Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. It was announced to-day by the Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones, that at the invitation of the Government, backed by a recommendation of the Chief of the Imperial General Staff, Major-General B. C. Freyberg, who is to command the New Zealand military forces overseas, will shortly pay a visit to the Dominion. At the time of his appointment to the New Zealand command, said Mr. Jones, Major-General freyberg was the general officer commanding the Salisbury Plain area. He had already since the outbreak of the war spent some time in France. Now he was coming to discuss questions of organisation with Major-General J. E. Duigan, Chief of the • General Staff here and the Government, to meet the officers and men whom he would lead and generally to familiarise himself With the military situation in New Zealand.
It is expected that Major-General Freyberg will be several weeks in New Zealand. He left London yesterday.
