ARRESTEE’S ESCAPE
WELLINGTON HOSPITAL CHARGE OF THEFT (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. When the name of John Burgess, aged 40, a fireman, was called in the Magistrate’s Court to-day on a charge of theft, the police reported that the defendant had escaped from the Wellington Public Hospital to which he had been taken after his arrest, and he was still at large. The hearing of the charge was adjourned sine die.
