Shortage of Bicycle Racks

The fact that 443 bicycles are ridden to the Gisborne High School daily by the pupils, was mentioned by the rector, Mr. J. Hutton, in reporting to the Board of Governors last evening on the shortage of bicycle racks at the school. He said that 235 boys and 208 girls rode bicycles to school daily and there were only 213 racks for the boys and 120 for the girls.

Erosion at Waikanac Beach.

Visitors to the Waikanae Beach recently have been surprised to see the extensive erosion that has occurred near the Stanley road approach to the beach. Usually there is a gentle slope down to the water’s edge, but as a result of the action of the sea of Into tho sandhills terminate in a 'bank, 6ft. to 9ft. high. The bank extends for a quarter of a mile between Stanley road and the gaol.

Obscene Language Used

Stated by Constable Hynds to have used obscene language in the grounds of the Hinerupe meeting-house, Hicks Bay, following a clanee, a Maori, George Tampa, appeared before Messrs. McNaught and Hunt, J.Ps., in the Police Court in Hicks Bay on Monday. In addition, the defendant was charged with having been drunk in a public place.
