(Special to the Herald.) iNAiPIER, this day,

The actions of intruders in schools in Napier on Thursday night or early yesterday morning are believed to have some bearing on the fire which destroyed the Westshore School on Thursday night.

This view is taken as in each 'instance numerous matches were found on the floors of both schools entered. Early yesterday morning it was discovered that the (Hastings Street School had been entered and 17s fid stolen from the various rooms. Portions of the woodwork of the headmaster’s room were smashed. The Napier Intermediate School also was entered, the door of the 'headmaster’s room being forced and drawers and cupboards ransacked.
