Support For Strike’ Reaffirmed: Dairy Unionists’ Action
AUCKLAND, This Day (P.A.).— The national executive of the New Zealand Dairy Factories Employees’ Union has reaffirmed its support for the railways organisations and instructed its members to stop work immediately any produce normally carried by rail leaves a dairy factory by road transport. This was stated last night by the national secretary of the union, Mr L. D. Robertson, who said that the decision has been made by the executive in discussions by telephone. The full resolution carried was. as follows: —“The national executive directs all dairy factory employees to take every possible step to uphold the railwaymen’s struggle and objects, and to prevent the execution of any scheme on the part of dairy companies to move any .dairy produce or receive any stores, including coal, normally carried by the Railways Department. In the event of any produce that is normally carried by rail leaving a dairy company by road transport, the factory workers concerned are directed to cease work immediately and notify the union.”
