“Roseanna McCoy” starring Joan Evans and Farley Granger. Framed against the mountain warfare that raged between the Hatfields and the McCoys comes “Roseanna McCoy,” the love episode that sparked America’s most famous and violent, feud, showing at the Opera House tonight. It stars Farley Granger, Raymond Massey; Charles Bickford, Richard Baseheart, Gigi Perreau and intrpduces Joan Evans. This local but long-enduring war to the death between the two family clans, first broke out in 1963 and raged intermittently until 1910. At one time, or another, it involved several thousand persons of Pike County, Ky., Logan County, W. Va., and the contiguous mountain country. It embroilr ed the two States and their Governors and finally in some of its aspects was carried to the Supreme Court of the United States. Regent Theatre Now Showing—“ The Gay Lady” starring Jean Kent, James Donald, Hugh Sinclair, Lana Morris. In the dress circle of the New Bedford Music Hall, sits an enraptured twelve-year-old. It is Trottie True, absorbed in watching the antics of a child prodigy. There and then Trottie decides to make the stage Tier career.
Several years pass, and Trottie accepts an offer to toqr with a George Edwardes Gaiety Show. While she is packing up in preparation, a balloon crashes into the back garden; its pilot, Sid Skinner is immediately attracted to Trbttie.
During the tour Sid is never far away, but Trottie is annoyed at having' to share his affections with the balloon. When the show plays at Bradford, George Edwards is in the audience with Mr Briggs, a prospective backer. Trottie comes on to give a vivacious performance which brings resounding applause from the,audience and delights Briggs. .He promises to finance the new show.
