LABOUR MAJORITY IS HALVED IN BRISTOL ELECTION

LONDON, December 1. —Voting .in a by-election for the South-east Bristol seat in the House of Commons was:

Anthony Benn (Labour), 19,367; James Lindsay (Conservative), 12,018; Mrs Doreen Gorsky (Liberal), 2752.

The by-election was caused by the resignation of Sir Stafford Cripps, who won the seat in February with a majority of 16,303.
