POSSIBLE ICE CREAM PRICE RISE SOON
No advice has been received as yet by Greymouth ice cream manufacturers of any increases in the price of ice cream, although one manufacturer stated today that he would not be surprised to receive such advice within the next few days. He pointed out that there had been no increase in ice cream prices lor a number of years, although the cost ol most ingredients of the product, including sugar, had risen considerably since. Referring to a Press Association message from Auckland that in that city pint-and quart cartons of ice cream rose in price yesterday from Is 4£d. to Is 6d, and from 2s 9d to 3s respectively, on account of the fisjpg costs, the manufacturer stated that the new prices were those which had been in force locally for a number of years. A message from Christchurch states that the cost of bulk ice cream to retailers was increased slightly as from yesterday, but that there would be no increase in the price of the commodity to the public in Christchurch.
