[X.Z.P.A. SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT.]
LONDON, October 2 (Rec. 9 a.m.) The Liberal Party, at its annual assembly at Scarborough, rejected emphatically any form of political alliance with other parties. An overwhelming majority voteci for a resolution that “this .assembly is very strongly opposed to agreements to limit or in any way reduce the number of Liberal candidates at Parliamentary elections.” The party leader, Mr Clement Davies, said the Liberals had no intention of losing their identity. “We refuse to die,” he said. We are determined to live and fight on.” Mr H. S. Fremantle, prospective candidate for Beverley, Yorkshire, asserted amid cries of “no” that there were people present, who favoured an alliance. “We object to an al-
fiance of any kind with people who stooped to any kind of dirty tricks to attack us at the last election,” he said. Mr Digby Lane, of Abingdon, Berkshire, complained that the Liberal executive had failed to give any lead on how the party should fight the next General Election. He would have to go back to hig electorate and say the matter was not even, discussed. “We are like hungry sheep who are not fed,” he said.
