BAPTISTS WELCOME NEW MINISTER TO GREYMOUTH
The Rev. James Nielsen and Mrs Nielsen who recently arrived in Greymouth, were extended a welcome in the Baptist Hall on Saturday evening. The Rev. Nielsen, foimerly of Kaiapoi and Mosgiel, has succeeded the Rev. Alfred Fear at Greymouth. The hall was decorated with arum lilies and spring flowers. Mr J. Bruerton, on behalf of tne congregation, welcomed Mr and Mrs Nielsen to Greymouth. Mrs A. beebeck spoke on behalf of t he _ members. The Rev. F. B. Maishall, of the Church of Christ, spoke on behalf of the Greymouth Ministers Association, and expressed appreciation of the happy relationship which had existed between Baptist ministers and those from the other churches in Greymouth. Also present at the function was Mr R. Clark, representative of the Canterbury Churches, who congratulated the church on securing as its minister, a man who had done outstanding work in his earlier pastorates.
During the evening games were played and vocal items were given by Misses Mary McKnight and Jean Cahill and Mr R. McDougall. A ladies committee served supper.
