The rocketing price increase in the past twelve months from £l5O to more than £5OO for a marriageable Moslem Miss caused leading Sheiks last month to call on the Israel Government for extension of price controls to the marriage mart. Meanwhile young Moslem men, unable to pay parents this “blackmarket” price for their dusky daughters remain on the short side of the triangle (financially) and are turning to the cold comfort of a creed where matrimonial aims are not marred by money.
