GENERAL WILLIAM DEAN, Commander of the United States 24th Division, who has been missing since the July retreat from Taejon, is alive, according to Captain William Cochrane, intelligence officer for the 7th Cavalry Regiment with the United States 25th Division. He based his statement on reports made by war prisoners and civilians in widely separated areas. According to a message today, General Dean is. reported to be in charge of a prisoner-of-war camp in North Korea.
