201 4 -Year-Old Violin

If it is proved genuine, a Hamig violin discovered in Brisbane makes the instrument recently reported as found in New Zealand, a comparative youngster. An Auckland message said that a violin belonging to Mr H. D. Kendal bears the.inscription “Johance Christianz Hamig, 1784.” The Brisbane instrument, owned by Mr V. Syrmis, bears a similar inscription and the date 1749. Experts have pronounced Mr Syrmi’s violin as probably genuine and it will be sent to England for appraisal and sale shortly.—Brisbane, Sept. 28.
