NO ALTERATIONS IN PLANS FOR N.Z. K FORCE
WELLINGTON, This Day (P.A..). —The plans for the training and dispatch of New Zealand’s K Force have not been altered by the successes of the United Nations forces in Korea. No proposals for any change in New Zealand’s contribution have been received, by the Government from the United Nations. The Prime Minister (Mr Holland), when asked about the force last evening, said that it was only to .be expected that with the gratifying improvement in the Korean situation people would be anxious to know what was to be the fate of New Zealand’s Korean expeditionary force. If the time came for any change in present plans the people ’ and especially the force itself would be informed. ' . r- -■■ “I can say at the moment that although there is every reason to be optimistic about the outcome of the Korean war, there is great danger in thinking that the conflict is over,” said Mr Holland. “It must be borne in mind that the war in Korea is being fought by the United Nations, and K Force is part of the United Nations forces. “A decision as to the New Zealand part of the forces must, of course, be made by the United Nations. I can say that up to the present there has been no proposal to alter our present preparations for the organisation of K. Force or for the return of our Navy units from Korean waters or our Air Force transport squadron from Malaya.”
