LAWN TENNIS UNITED CLUB HOLDS ANNUAL MEETING

The financial position of the club was sound, and, with the maturing of the insurance policy in October, it should be possible to reduce substantially, if not pay off entirely, the bank overdraft, the interest on which was a heavy drain on the club’s finances, stated the president, Mr A. L. McKay, in his report to the annual meeting of the United Lawn Tennis Club last evening. . n x ~ Attention must also be. paid to the need for providing funds for the top dressing of the courts and the maintenance of the fences and pavilion, the report added. The club’s assets had been increased by the erection of three new umpire stands which, however, were not ready until late in the season. A live hedge had been planted by the fence bordering the Recreation Ground and the benefit of this should be felt in a few years.
