HOKITIKA MEETING TO DISCUSS HOTEL LICENSING PROBLEMS
HOKITIKA, This Day (O.C.).—The Hokitika Borough Council at its meeting last night agreed to the request ’of the Hokitika Progress League that the Mayor (Mr A. E. Perry) should convene a meeting of those interested in licensing reform, to set up a central committee to col* lect information for presentation to the Licensing Commission at its sitting at Hokitika. The Mayor will call the meeting, as requested, at an early date. The Westlaud Hospital Board advised that it had decided that it will purchase its total requirements of water from the council at one shilling per 1000 gallons, when the Lake Kaniere scheme is in operation.
The council expressed its gratification at the decision of the board. It was decided to make the charges lor water connections, renewals and new connections.
The engineer was authorised to purchase 3000 gallons of road oil from Wellington. It was decided to point out to the traffic inspector that a number .of cyclists were wilfully obstructing traffic on the combined rail and traffic bridge at Hokitika.
