Military Defaulters

The penal provisions of the Military' Training Act are to be invoked against 18-year-old youths who fail to register for service, and their employers. The prosecutions will be made by the Department of Labour and Employment. An officer of the department in Auckland announced this. He said that there had been 1298 registrations in the Auckland district of the department since registrations began in January. The department believed this number to be fewer than the number, of 18-year-old youths eligible for registration.
