REEFTON MINES IDLE; SMALL ATTENDANCE AT SUNDAY MEETING

As a result of their failure to attend a meeting of the union called for Sunday, about 200 State miners on the Reefton field will lose a day s work tomorrow. Because of the small attendance at Sundays meeting, the union executive decided that the meeting should be transferred to a working day and have called a stop-work meeting for tomorrow, which means that all State miners in the field will be idle. The business of the meeting has not been disclosed. About 50 men were idled at the Garvey’s Creek State mine today. The reason for the stoppage is a complaint by the coal cartage contractors over the state of the road linking the mine with the main highway to Reefton.
