R. Hitchcock Joins Warwick

Warwickshire County Cricket Club has signed on young New Zealand left-hand batsman Ray Hitchcock, believing he will develop into a great player. Hitchcock worked his passage to England on a tramp steamer. He impressed coach “Tiger” Smith in a trial. Hitchcock says: “I’m playing in Don Taylor’s shirt. Tom Pritchard’s trousers, and a pair of boots I’ve ' scrounged, but , I’ve got my own socks.” Taylor and Pritchard are New Zealanders who ■ have been playing, regularly for Warwick.
