BRADSHAW WILL NOW FLY THE TASMAN ALONE
SYDNEY, June 22.—Captain A. J. Bradshaw has accepted an offer made by the Australian Federal Government to pay the fares of his wife and son to New Zealand, and will now fly the Tasman alone. It is understood that Mrs Bradshaw and her son will fly to New Zealand by Tasman Empire Airways flying-boat. Captain Bradshaw’s time of departure, and the route he will take have not yet been announced. In tiic House of Representatives today the acting Minister of Civil Aviation (Mr R. G. Casey) reiterated that the Commonwealth Government would not allow Captain Bradshaw to fly his family from Hobart to New Zealand in a single-engined aircraft as the hazard of such a flight was far too great. Mr Casey added that the Government would allow Captain Bradshaw to proceed alone if he wished, in which case the Government would find passages for his wife and son. ' The Government would even be willing to find passages for the whole family, including Captain Bradshaw, and would approach the New Zealand Government to share the cost of any passages by Tasman Empire Airways.
