Postwoman’s Thefts
WELLINGTON, This Day (P.A.). —“The position is that His Majesty’s mails are absolutely sacred. They are and must remain inviolable,” said Mr J. S. Hanna, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court today when sentencing Elizabeth Lois Day, aged 43, a postwoman, to nine months’ reformative detention on one of 12 charges of stealing money from registered letters. She was convicted and discharged on the other counts. The offences occurred between May 20 and June 11, a total of £77 7s 8d being stolen. • ,
