Temperamental Actress
SAN FRANCISCO, June 20 (Rec. 10 a.m.). —A film actress, Judy Garland, cut her throat in a fit of aguish, her studio. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer announced today. A studio spokesman said the wound was not seri'ous. Miss Garland broke a drinking glass in a bathroom and made a superficial laceration on her throat. The actress had rushed into the bathroom of her Hollywood home and locked the door after she had become despondent and hysterical during a meeting at which her business future was being discussed. Miss Garland’s husband, Vincent Minelli, persuaded the actress to open the door. A doctor who was called did not find it necessary to stitch the wound. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer suspended Miss Garland last week for failing to attend a rehearsal of a picture.
