SECOND MAN NOW CHARGED WITH MURDER OF CHINESE
AUCKLAND, This Day (P- A -) ; — A second man has been charged with the murder of Lee Hoy Chong, ageci 47, a retired Chinese Gardener, who was found with his head battered in the kitchen of his home in Baker street, on the morning of May 23. He is Ronald Hugh Malcolm, aged 22, a freezing works hand who has been in custody since his arrest on May 30 on a charge of breaking and entering Chong’s house by day on May 22 with intent to commit a crime. , The first man arrested on the murder charge was Francis Patrick O’Rourke, aged 35, a half-caste Maori labourer, who was caught on May 30 after a chance car chase of O’Rourke and a man not connected with the death of Chong. O’Rourke is on remand to appear on Monday next. ' When Malcolm’s name was called in the Police Court today on the murder charge, Detective Finlay asked for a remand until Monday on both charges.
