This single episode from the tremendous. book of Casanova’s life is set in Palermo, Sicily, where the pr^ 4 - fighter-lover comes to the aid of the persecuted peasants as they resist the onslaughts of the army of the King of Naples. No valorous deed for his country was without one romantic attachment or another, and in this story Casanova sweeps Lady Bianca, the daughter of the King’s Governor, oft her feet in scenes of mounting passion and tempestuous love-making. Roddy McDowell, wins more screen honours in his latest and greatest I dramatic adventure “Rocky” is showing at the Opera House. Regent Theatre “The Lost One,” (La Traviata), starring Nelly Corradi, Gino Mattera. , d “The Lost One” is presented on the screen with all its poignant beauty. ■ “ Nelly Carradi and Gino Mattera’ in the leading roles, display excellent acting ability . . . the whole opera is sung in Italian, but at intervals the story is explained in English, and the whole film is graced by Verdi’s beautiful music. Verdi becomes interested in the story of the beautiful woman who won the heart of every man in Paris, and is shown her personal diary. While he reads, his inspiration is translated into the opera.
