Trots At Reef ton Today: Win For Mountain Range
[SPECIAL REPORTER] REEFTON, This Day.—Now in J. Young’s stable, the promising trotter, Mountain Range, showed his class when he won the opening race at the Reefton Trotting Club’s meeting today, after losing a lot of ground by trotting unsteadily in the early stages. The meeting is being held in perfect weather conditions at Reefton and there is a large attendance. The track is fast. Several of the runners in the first race lost all chance at the start and first to show out was Little Ann which led Citronella, Mountain Range (in a break), Ingenuity and Sea Charm. With six furlongs to cover, Little Ann still held command from Citronella, Lucky Ducrow, Ingenuity and Sandy Guy. Mountain Range made up a lot of ground in the back straight and at the bottom turn was handy to the leaders with Ingenuity and Sandy Guy also within striking distance. Mountain Range finished very determinedly wide out to catch Little Ann about 50 yards from the post. Citronella held on for third ahead of Ingenuity and Lucky Ducrow. Details:—
