! The decision to retire Sweet Spray was made after her defeat in the Great Northern St Leger. Had she won this race she might have been prepared for thev Melbourne Cup. If there is anything in pedigree Sweet Spray and Sweet Nymph should be stud successes. Their dam Sugar Kandy was by Colombo from Belle Mere, a sister to Beau Pere and halfsister, to Balloch, Gay Shield, Mr Standfast and Dink. All five sons of Cinna have made reputation as sires in New Zealand, and: the Cinna family is represented also by'Celebrity and her progeny—Champagne, Celebration and Davy Jones.
