GOVERNMENT STAYS HAND IN BRISBANE WHARF TROUBLE

CANBERRA, March 31.—“ The Government has no desire to maintain the operation of the proclamation under the Crimes Act any longer than the circumstances require,” the Prime Minister, Mr R. G. Menzies, announced today after a Cabinet meeting, when referring to the Brisbane wharf trouble. ' At its next meeting the Cabinet will review the developments since 'the proclamation was made. This will be in order that, in the light of the then circumstances, a decision may be taken.
