Seaman Fatally Injured

AUCKLAND, March 31 (P.A.).— A member of the crew of the ship' Huntingdon suffered fatal injuries when he fell down a hold of the ship tonight. He was: Leonard Surridge, aged 22, an able seaman.

A number of seamen had been en- ' gaged to help clear the vessel and Surridge was assisting to unload general cargo from No. 2 hold. Unloading was completed and the slab hatches were swung over to be replaced by winches. Surridge fell into the hold and dropped about 38 feet on to bales and wool and dunnage. He was taken by ambulance to the Auckland Hospital, but died before he could be admitted.
