Turbo-Jet Cars

Turbo-jet cars would be mass produced in Britain and the United States ■within 10 years, said Sir William Rootes in New York today. Sir William Rootes, who is chairman of the British Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, said that the first British turbo-jet car which was recently tested in public, would have to pass through an experimental period. “In 10 years’ time, both Britain and the United States will be producing turbo-jet vehicles for the man in the street to purchase,” he continued. The Rootes Group was now sending to North America four times the number of vehicles it sent a year ago. Sir William Rootes added: “A disturbing factor to us, however, is that this does not meet the demand. Steel shortages in the United Kingdom still limit our efforts.” —New York, March 29.
