Liner Leaves Cargo Behind
The liner Rangitoto sailed last night from Auckland with part of her cargo left behind. However, the shipping company would not disclose how much remained to be loaded. It is believed the remainder will be sent on one of the company’s ships, a number of which are loading in Auckland. The Rangitoto carried, among other cargo, frozen goods, including butter and meat, wool, tallow and casein. It is believed that the greater part of the cargo left behind was frozen goods, which take longer to load.—(P.A.) Communists In Burma
Rangoon newspapers reported today that the Burmese Communist rebels had set up a rival government at Prome, 160 miles north of Rangoon, under the Premiershio of Thakin Than Tun, Secretary-General of the Burmese Communist Party. The reports stated that the Communists, aided by army deserters, set up their government after driving out “White Band” volunteers, their former allies in the fight against the Burmese Government.—Rangoon,_Mar ch 29.
