Garden Circle Meets
The annual meeting of the Greymouth Women’s Garden Circle was held at the residence of Mrs H. Bullock. Members stood in silence as a mark of respect to the memory of two late members, Mrs Rose and Miss Cunliffe. Mrs Joyce presented a report on the year’s activities. The balance sheet showed a small profit. . The election of officers resulted in Mrs Truman being elected as convener, Mrs Joyce, deputy convener and Mrs Blair, secretary. The following committee was appointed: Mesdames Smith, McKay, Boucher, Hendry, Clarke, and Steele. The winners of the recent garden competition were announced as follows: Mrs G. Boucher 1, Mrs P. Joyce 2, Mrs A. L. McKay 3, Mrs E. V. Arthur 4. The convener reported on the success of the garden party and thanked all who had assisted. A new member, Mrs D. Logan, was welcomed. Mrs D. Beresford was farewelled, Mrs Joyce paying tribute to her good work and wishing her health and happiness in her new home. The “lucky plant” competition was won by Mrs Bremner. At the conclusion of the meeting members took the opportunity of inspecting Mrs Bullock’s dahlia display.
