RUSSIANS REFUSE EVIDENCE AT VON MANSTEIN TRIAL

LONDON, November 28 (Rec 11 a.m.). —The Associated Press Berlin correspondent says the Russians have done nothing to help to prove that the German field-marshal, Erich von Manstein, committed war crimes m the Soviet Union. Sir Arthur Cornyns-Carr, chief prosecutor, told the military tribunal trying von Manstein that. the Russians have provided no evidence in the case. He added, that the Americans had done their best to provide documents. The war crimes, of which von Manstein was accused, were all allegedly committed in Russia or Poland.

Sir Arthur’s' charge came hard on the heels of bitter Soviet attacks on the British conduct of the von Manstein trial in today’s Moscow newspaper. Isvestia described the trial as “an impertinent demonstration of the solidarity of the Anglo-American instigators of the new war with the Hitlerite executioners.” . . Pravda charged that the British had violated the Moscow agreement of 1943 that war criminals were to be turned over to the nations in which their crimes had been committed.
