OBITUARY Mrs Gertrude Dearing

The death occurred at Greymouth on Saturday afternoon, following a shortillness, of Mrs Gertrude Lucy. Dealing, wife of Mr Thomas Dearmg, oi Turumaha street. Q Mrs Dearing was born at Kaiapoi 69 years ago. She came to the West Coast about 1919 and had lived at Greymouth since 1941. She is survived by her husband. The funeral took nlace this afternoon at the Karoro cemetery, the services at' the residence and at the graveside being conducted by the Rev. K. G. Aubrey.

Mrs Violet Schon

The death has occurred at Wellington of Mrs Violet Rebecca Schou, wife of Mr Roy Schon, of Island Bay. Mrs Schou, who was 47 years of age, was the second daughter of the date Mr William Barrow, of Greymouth. She is survived by her husband, also four sons, Ronald, John, Alexander and Paul, and one daughter, Doneene.She also leaves two sisters, Mrs T. Kelly (Greymouth) and Mrs W. Bishop (Kumara) and seven brothers, Irwin, Jack, Arthur, Ernest (Greymouth), Claude (Dunollie), Gordon (Invercargill) and Thomas (Wellington).

Mr A. F. O’Donoghue

The death occurred at Greymouth this morning, after a short illness, of Mr Alexander Francis O’Donoghue, formerly manager of IYA, Auckland. Mr O’Donoghue was born at Ross 70 years ago, being a son of pioneer residents of that district. He had a long career in broadcasting in New Zealand and at the time of his retirement a few years ago, he was station manager at IYA. He subsequently wrote a widely-discussed book on broadcasting in the Dominion. Since his retirement, Mr O’Donoghue had resided at Riccarton and came to the West Coast on holiday about two months ago. He leaves his wife and four sisters, Mesdames M Hall (Wellington), A. O’Hanlon (Taihape), M Minehan (Ross) and C. Keating (London). Two sisters, Mother Tarcille of the Sisters of the Mission, and Mrs J. Greaney (Greymouth) predeceased him. The funeral will take place at the Karoro cemetery tomorrow morning and Requiem Mass will be celebrated at St Patrick’s Church.
