The Johannesburg correspondent of the Associated Press says that the total profits of the Rand goldmines more than doubled in September, compared with August, because of the devaluation of- sterling. The September returns show that the total profits were £4 584,245, 'compared with £2,050,155 in Aiigust.—London, October 4.
