BRITAIN CHANGES POLICY ON JAPAN’S PEACE TREATY

LONDON, October 3 (Rec. 11 a.m.). —Britain has determined on a new approach to the problem of the Japanese peace treaty, said a Foreign Office spokesman today. He refused to give details of the new approach, but it is believed the policy was drawn up in conjunction with the United States at the recent Washington talks. One of the main difficulties has been that the Soviet wants the treaty discussed only among the Big Five Foreign Ministers. Britain, however, wants the Commonwealth ' nations who fought against Japan included in the talks, as well as members of the Fax* Eastern Commission.
