AID FOR IMMIGRANTS IN AUSTRALIA
CANBERRA, This Day (Rec. 11.35 a.m.). —The Prime Minister, Mr Chifley, has announced the establishment of an Immigration Planning Council. He said that the Government would rely on the existing Immigration Advisory Council to continue its work on matters of general policy on the selection of migrants, . their arrival and reception, and their assimilation into the community. The Planning Council would plan and review progress in absorbing newcomers into industry and devel- 1 cpmental projects, and examine major difficulties connected with accommcdation and employment.
