PRIZE FOR BEST CADET

CHRISTCHURCH, This Day (P.A.).—Four cadets, one from each area of the Southern Military District, have been nominated for the William Robert Friar Memorial Prize, awarded annually to the best cadet m the district. They are: W.0.2 R T. Dawson Ashburton High School, area 10; Sergeant, W. H. McLeod, Nelson College, area 9; RB.M. I. H. Burrows, Waitaki Boys’ High School area 11* RSM T. B. Butson, Southland Boys High School, area 12. The final award of the prize, which is a book provided by the Imperial Cadet Association of England, will be . made after the nominees have been interviewed by the commander of the Southern Military District (Brigadier C. E. Weir). The nominees were selected for their military abilities, personality, knowledge, proficiency in sports and acthe courses they had attended.
