REEFTON SPORTS CLUB ELECTS NEW OFFICERS
REEFTON, This Day (O.C.).—Mr A. Topp was elected president at the annual meeting of the Reefton. Amalgamated Sports Club. Other officers elected were: vice-president, Mr J. Etheridge; patron, Mr A. Lulham; secretary, Mr D. Cartwright; assistant secretary, Mr J. Weir; treasurer, Mr C. A. Belcher; auditor. Mr J. P. Lee. temporary committee was elected and it was resolved that a canvass be made for financial members. A general meeting will be held in four weeks’ time, when the executive will be elected.
The balance sheet showed that the club had enjoyed a good year. Messrs Topp and Etheridge were elected delegates to the West Coast Athletic Centre. Application is to be made for February 4', 1950 as the date for the club’s annual sports meeting. Mr D. Cartwright was voted £lO for his work as secretary during the last year. Ways and means of raising funds for the next annual sports meeting were discussed, and it was resolved to hold this matter over until the general meeting. The action of the vice-president, Mr C. Chandler, in making a payment for a gift to the retiring president, the Rev Father Fletcher, on his departure from Reefton was confirmed. Father Fletcher wrote thanking the club tor the gift. COAL PRODUCTION In the 10 shifts for the fortnight ended August 20 coal consigned from Reefton to Canterbury and for shipping totalled 4080 tons. This represented an improved output for the period. ’
