Hospital Control: Special Board Conference Called
WELLINGTON, This Day (P.A.). —A special conference, at which each hospital board will be represented by one delegate, will be held in Wellington on October 11 to consider the report of the committee appointed at the recent annual conference of the Hospital Boards’ Association to formulate proposals for the establishment of the suggested National Hospital Commission. It was stated today that the committee had made progress, but that its recommendations were still in the confidential stage.
A remit passed at the recent conference and sponsored by the executive proposed that the members of the commission, which should be responsible to the Minister of Health, should be on a full-time basis and the commission should have jurisdiction in all matters of national importance, but the identity, powers, and functions of the hospital boards in all matters of local or domestic consequence should be preserved intact.
