LINDBOM TO PLAY AT CENTRE IN ASHBURTON MATCH
[SPECIAL REPORTER] ASHBURTON, This Day.—A number of experiments will be made with the Coast team to play Ashburton at Ashburton- tomorrow. Ljndbom will be played at centre and Goldworthy will .be a lock for the first time. . Lindbonr vzas first chosen for the team as second five-eighth, but the I defection of Gillan with a knee injury —the eighth player more or less seriously hurt —resulted in his transfer to centre and Breeze has been brought into the team. Two of the injured players, Walker and Mathieson, left today on their return for Hokitika and Greymouth respectively. McKendry, who was hurt in Dunedin, may play in the Canterbury match as his injuries were found on medical examination yesterday to be a torn cartilage in the chest and not a broken rib. as first suspected. The match tomorrow will be played on a hard ground. A continuation of fine weather is expected. The team is:— Backs: Muir, Stoop, Lindbom, Steel, Breeze,, Hunter, Tainui. Forwards: Eastgate, Fisher, Wells, Woods, J. Curtain, Goldworthjr, Flynn, Curtain. The Ashburton team contains only four members who played against Coast at Greymouth two years ago. The captain, W. Win For West Coast Schoolboys At Tourney [SPECIAL TO STAR] NELSON, This Day.—ln the first round of the Seddon Shield districts’ primary schools’ tournament, Marlborough 12 beat Golden Bay nil, and West Coast 14 beat Buller 3. For Coast, Ray Spencer (2), Noel Williams and Barry Williams scored tries and Spencer converted one. Colligan kicked a penalty goal for Buller. Gardyne and Bluett were the best forwards for Coast Fourth Grade Team
