FLOODS IN INDIA
LUCKNOW, August 22 (Rec. 1 p.m.).—Nearly 500 villages in the United Provinces are under waiter as a result of floods after heavy rains. The river Ganges and three of its tributaries are in spate. The water level is now only three feet below the danger* level in some places. Considerable damage to crops and property is reported and the Government is evacuating people in boats.
