Annual Festival Of Competitions Society Opened

The Greymouth Competitions Society today commenced its 35th annual festival in the St John s and Wesley Halls. There, are large entries, competitors coming from as far away as Dunedin, Timaru, Inveicargill and Nelson. This year the dancing section has been separated from other events and is being conducted in the Wesley Hau where the stage has been extended to allow the competitors more room. A small stage on which the . piano mounted has been erected in the ol John’s Hall where the vocal, instrumental, and elocution events are being held. . , The festival will be officially opened at the St John’s Hall this evening by the Mayor, Mr F. F. Boustridge, and the competitions will continue with morning, afternoon, and evening sessions until Thursday, when in the evening a demonstration concert will be given.
