RUGBY FOOTBALL West Coast Team For Match At Dunedin Tomorrow

DUNEDIN, This : Day.—The reinforcements sought for the West Coast team as a' result of the reduction of the number of fit players because of injuries in the-flrst two games—Me-. Kendry, Blaketown hooker, and W. Curtain, the Star breakaway—are due to arrive at Dunedin this after-' noon, and McKendry will play in tomorrow’s match against Otago Subunions.
Six players are now on the injured list and a medical examination in Dunedin disclosed that two more will not play again on the tour. These are the five-eighth, Fraser (torn shoulder ligaments) and the breakaway, Mathieson, besides the hooker, Mettrick. Others still unavailable are Walker and Fisher. The latter has torn muscle tissues in the shoulder. Gillan, who was hurt at Invercargill, is fit to play and will be at centre tomorrow. .
The team trained at Carisbrpok again today and with the fine but cool weather experienced the ground is expected to remain firm 1 for the match. The team is: Lindbom, Stoop, Gillan, Steel, Breeze, Hunter, Richardson, Eastgate, McKendry, Wells, Woods, J. Curtain, Hagen, Nelson, Flynn. Reserves: Forwards, W. Curtain, Goldworthy: backs, Muir and Tainui. These are the only available members.
HOKITIKA WINS INTER-SCHOOL RUGBY
In an inter-school match played at Rugby Park yesterday afternoon, the Hokitika District High School first XV defeated Marist Brothers’ .High School first XV by 12 to 3. It was a bright exhibition of Rugby. The match was remarkable for fast, open play, straight running, and an absence of kicking except on defence. Both teams were fit and evenly matched, with Marist dominating scrums, line-outs, and rucks, while Hokitika excelled in the loose. Fox- Hokitika Broome and Tainui each scored a try and Broome kicked two penalties. Marist’s points came from a try by McManus. Marist’s best forwards were Corcoran, Hutchison, McGrath, and Bourke, and Browne and Hill led the Hokitika pack. In the Hokitika backs outstanding were Boyd, who was solid on defence, Tainui, and Parker. Skinner, McManus, and Lynch were the best of the Marist backs. . Tomorrow’s Matches The final of the senior one round competition between Blaketown and Star will be the main match at Rugby Park tomorrow. The teams appear to be evenly matched, with Star having strength in the backs and Blaketown being better in the forwards. The final of the junior one round competition will be decided tomorrow when the winner of the main competition, Technical Old Boys, will meet Celtic in the curtain-raiser to the mam match. Old Boys were held to a draw by Cobden last week and Celtic beat Blaketown 9-6.
