OBITUARY Mr A. E. Morel

The death occurred yesterday at the Westland Hospital of Mr Alphonse Edward Morel, aged 76 years, of Greymouth. Born at Murchison, he had spent the greater part of his life on the West Coast, where he was formerly engaged in gold mining at No Town and at Nelson Creek. He later took up farming at the Taramakau settlement, after which he lived in retirement at Grevmouth for some years. Predeceased by his wife 28 years ago, he leaves five sons, Charles (Greymcuth), Theodore (Christchurch), Mervyn (Napier). Aubrey and John (Sydney), and four daughters, Sister Mary Gerome (Sacred Heart- Convent, Wanganui), Misses Clare Morel (Napier) and Nancy Morel (Wellington) and Mrs .Roberts (Greymouth)., Mrs A. Page (Brightwater) is a sister and there are two brothers, Theodore (Nelson) and Louis (Christchurch). The private interment took place at the Karoro cemetery today. Mrs L. M. Caldwell The death occurred at Christchurch yesterday of Mrs Lillias Margaret Caldwell, wife of Mr J. W. Caldwell. Mrs Caldwell was the youngest daughter of the late Rev. Walter Buchan and Mrs Buchan, of County Derry, Ireland. She came to Greymouth over 30 years ago when her husband accepted a position with Duncan McLean, Ltd. She was a member of St John’s Presbyterian Church and an active member of the choir and P.W.M.U. Mrs Caldwell in survived in New Zealand by her husband and one sister, Miss A. Buchan. Mr Timothy J. Moore The death occurred at the Inangahua Hospital, Reefton, today, after a fairly lengthy illness, of Mr Timothy Joseph Moore., an old resident of the district. Born at Reefton, Mr Moore, who was aged 68 years, was the eldest son of the late Mr and Mrs Timothy Moore and had resided in the Reefton district all his life. He was employed by the Inangahua County Council for many years as a roadman at Blackwater. Mr Moore was not married. He is ', survived by one brother, Sim (Hokitika), and one sister, Mrs Gilroy ' (Christchurch). The funeral will take place at the Suburban cemetery tomorrow afternoon, following a service at the Church of the Sacred Heart, Reefton.
