STRONGMAN MINE IDLED BY MISHAP

Work ceased in the - Strongman State coal mine shortly after 9.30 this morning, as a result of a mishap to the main haulage rope. ■ The rope “hedge-hogged,” or pulled a strand on a pulley just inside the mine mouth, necessitating a fairly extensive splice. As it was impossible to keep the miners supplied with empty coal boxes with the rope out of action, the mine was idled for the day. The splicing work was commenced immediately and will be completed in time for the back shift, to work tonight. It is expected that normal production will be resumed tomorrow.
