NEW ZEALAND “ARMY” ABROAD
It is probably safe to say that, except when servicemen have turned sportsmen, New Zealand has never previously had as many players of sport abroad at one time as will be the case in the next few weeks. The sailing for Australia today of the University track and field team of 10, together with the departure of the last of the bowling contingent for Brisbane, will mean that at least 150 active sportsmen from the Dominion will be overseas. That number isjnade up as follows:— Rugby football team in South Africa 30 Maori Rugby football team in Australia . . A . . 23 Cricket team in England . . 15 Bowlers in Australia . . . . 71 University athletes in Australia 10Golfer in England (A. Murray) . . . . , . . . 1 Total 150
