TROOPS CALLED OUT TO MAN BOMBAY SERVICES
’ BOMBAY, May 15 (Rec. 2 p.m.). —Troops were called out today to man. Bombay’s water pumping stations and purification works, which have been paralysed by a strike of conservancy and sanitation service employees since last Friday. Only 2000 out of 9000 strikers returned to work following a warning by the municipality that they could be liable to dismissal if they did not do so. The men are asking for higher wages and shorter hours. Prisoner Recaptured WELLINGTON, This Day (P.A.) .— Richard Stanley Wratten, who escaped from Mount Crawford Prison on Friday afternoon ,was recaptured by the police this afternoon on Mount Victoria, Wellington.
