Anzac Day Services

A service in commemoration of Anzac Day was held in the Wallsend Hall on Monday. The service, which was well attended, was conducted by the Rev. A. G. Davidson and the Mayor of Brunner, Mr Gutberlet, presided. The Brunner band was in attendance. Mr A. Agnew sounded “Last Post.” Mrs Quinn, of Dobson, sang “Bless This House.” The accompanist was Miss Watson.

Bridge Collapses When a bulldozer was being carried by transporter over a bridge a mile north of Erua yesterday, the bridge collapsed and two men had. a narrow escape from injury. As the result of the bridge’s collapsing the WanganuiNational Park highway has been closed till further notice. Traffic travelling north will have to make a detour at Waiouru and use the Desert road. Those travelling south will have to make a detour at National Park and use the desert road.—(P.A.)
