The Town Clock
Sir, —It is apparent that the Mayor is optimistic about securing a subsidy lor the re-erection of the town clock, but, as a ratepayer, I would .suggest that, on his coming visit to Greymouth, the Minister of Works, Mr Semple, be informed that the Mayor’s intention is to erect our dearold clock up on a hill, much against the wishes of the residents of this town, and that, to give access to the clock, a road will have to be formed round the hill, thus nullifying the money benefit gained by the hopedfor subsidy. As we now have a cleared space m the centre of the town, made available by the demolition of the Town Hall, I suggest that the proposed subsidy. be sought for the re-erection of our clock on this site. —Yours, etc., CITIZEN. Greymouth, April 26.
