Brilliant Final Trials At Riccarton Today

[SPECIAL TO STAR] CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Brilliant final trials were credited to Citril, Magical and Full Play, three Great Easter candidates, and Fine Night, Kirkella and Stag Dance on z the course proper at Riccarton this morning, when conditions on the outside of the course proper were excellent from the time-making point of view.

Citril beat Julius Caesar nicely by half a length in 1.13 3-5. Citril soon gained the lead and did her work freely and easily throughout. Another strong run over six furlongs was 1.14 2-5 done by Magicaland Voltaic. They ran the first two in 25 l-ssec.

Full Play In Form Another Great Easter candidate, Full Play dashed over four furlongs in 47 1-5 secs. Full Play’s time was equalled by the Great Autumn candidate, Fine Night, and the Russley Handicap, Stag Dance. Lady Christine gave Woodrow a big start from the four furlongs and beat him in 48 4-5 secs.

Competitive and Infatuate sprinted over four furlongs in 49 2-5. Beaumaris beat Trinidad by a length in 48 4-ssecs. Peridot, being kept up to his work, was half a length behind Trinidad with a gap to Boost and Blue Print, while Supreme Command tailed off. Chord and Celtic Chief were together throughout five furlongs in 1.3 1-5, the first in 13 1-5 secs. Rebel Night beat Swift by half a length with over a length to Martian Air, at the end of six furlongs in 1.19 3-5 the first two in 25 3-5. Beau Ideal finished on to beat Royal Wedding by half a length with Coxswain a similar margin back after running five furlongs in 1.3 3-5, the first in 14sec.

Fastest Mile Kirkella did the fastest time for a mile, 1.43 2-5, when he beat Revolte by threequarters of a length, the first half being run in 52 3-5. Tuatea and Ivanhoe, finishing together, took 1.32 3-5 for seven furions.

False Step finished solidly to beat Flying Orders by a neck and . record 1.3 for five furlongs, the first in 13 sec.

Real Raid dashed over four furlongs in 48 4-5, and Irish Peach showed to advantage in beating Lorna Leigh by a neck over five furlongs in 1.4, the first in 13 2-ssec. The Champagne Stakes candidates Golden Spa, Super Snipe and Western Winner were associated in a run over four furlongs in 48 2-ssec. Western Winner was the pacemaker, but the other pair shaded him at the end. Symbolic was too speedy for Air Sonnet over four furlongs in 50 sec. Symbolic finishing a length in front. Erinborough beat Open Range by half-a-length over the same ground in *49 4-5.

Royal Tan’s Trial Royal Tan beat Liebestraum by a neck with'four lengths to Responsive and Dark Arrow.with Tenor Royal another length back at the end of a mile in 1.44, the „first ’half taking 51 3-5. Liebestraum finished on solidly in the run home but did not quite get up to Royal Tan. Dissenter shaded Caronia over four furlongs in 49 4-5 and Rising Tide beat Birdman by three-quarters of a length in .48 1-5. Frances had no difficulty in beating Robin Redbreast by a length with Trident, which had considerably the worst of the weights, two lengths back at the end of seven furlongs in 1.32, the first three taking 41 1-5. Ballochbuie shaped well in beating Detract by three lengths over the same ground in 1.29 4-5. Radar had ten lengths to spare from Lady Guillotine over five furlongs in 1.5, the first in 14 1-5. Faithful Pal, which has a joint which has been giving trouble, beat Bambalina by five lengths over six furlongs-in 1.16 3-5, the first two in 26 2-5. Bambalina is not considered a good track worker. / " Reformed and Royal Dollar sprinted four furlongs in 50 2-5. Lord Chase set out over four hurdles, but ran off at the second, though he continued on to clear the -last two. Relampago was also schooled over four hurdles, hurling himself at them.
